Hakkasan
“To get to Hakkasan, which is in what used to be a basement parking garage, you grope your way down a murky alley near the British Museum and look for a burly, black-clad doorman. There is no sign. Once inside, you find yourself in a series of rooms with cobalt-blue walls, a space that one London critic described as achingly cool, with people younger and hipper than you. At lunch, you eat dim sum, at dinner a robust range of Beijing-, Taipei- and Shanghai-inspired food, served by waitresses clad in cheongsams.”
The next time I’m in town, which is generally fairly frequently, the first place I’m heading to eat out is there, Hakkasan. It sounds excellent – anyone else know it?
As a side-note I was hunting around for it on the ‘net and noticed that it has some incredible sound-system installed as well – I saw the sound-system makers website, that I’ve now forgotten the URL of rather embarrasingly but nevermind.
‘Achingly cool’ indeed. (Apparently it’s loud, but not *too* loud.)
