Firewood In The Algarve
Looking for firewood here in the Algarve? Tricky in some parts, no?
I get it from an elderly’ish Portuguese guy who lives not far from where I do here in the central part, and up in the hills a bit, of the Algarve. His name is Antonio Alentejano and he has stacks of wood (supplying firewood is his job, and probably has been for years and years). He does do deliveries, by the way, though how far he’d be prepared to go delivering it I have no idea.
I’m paying about €100 – €120 per medium-sized truckload (those pickups with the truck back on them size) depending on what mood he is in, what the weather is like, how much he is in demand, and, for all I know, the specific alignment of the stars on the day that we call him.
He is a nice guy, he doesn’t speak English, he does sell good wood (i.e. it’s dry and legal), and I do have his phone number.
So if you are after some firewood drop me a comment here and I’ll pass on his phone number.
Then you won’t freeze to death in what passes for ‘winter’ around here.
