Smoke, Mirrors, And The Full English Breakfast
“The ideal breakfast is grilled bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, mushrooms and tomatoes.”
So says ‘nutritionist’ Angela Dowden on Sky News today.
Apparently, she says, scientists compared the ‘big breakfast’ diet with a strict low-carb weight-loss regime and found that the ‘big breatkfast’ group continued to lose weight while those on the strict diet regained almost all their weight loss.
Sounds like complete nonsense to you? Yes, it does to me, too.
I decided to have a quick Google for our ‘nutritionist’ Angela Dowden to see what else she has had to say about nutrition, but it turned out that somebody else had already looked and after researching her various claims they had come to the following conclusion:
My dead cat could do better.
I agree, and I think that I will give the full English breakfast a miss this morning and stick with a quick sandwich.
Much more sensible.
[Update: The UK Guardian has picked this story up on comment is free, and so has the BBC. Both of them covering it from different angles.]
