My ‘completely missing the point’ award of 2009 goes to the Japanese scientists who have now bred non-poisonous Puffer Fish.
Guys, the entire point of eating Puffer Fish/torafugu is?
Quite.
Yves Rossy did not make it from Morocco to Spain this afternoon.
That’s too bad, but happily he seems to be uninjured by his splash-landing and he will, I hope, make it across on his next attempt.
Until then, I tip my hat to his courage. Bravo.
The Atheist billboard campaign is off to a good start in the UK, with billboards now up in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.
Further details about this campaign, with daily updates, are available on the official website. There is also coverage on the BBC News website and a full article, with a large – and fast increasing – number of comments and opinions, on the Guardian UK’s Comment is Free section.
Just an ‘I remember when…’ post, really. Today Jenson Button won the 2009 Formula One World Chamionship at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Some people will say that he isn’t a worthy champion, or ‘the car did all the work’.
If you are one of those people then I suggest that you watch a replay of the race, as ‘worthy’ he most certainly was. His driving was aggressive enough at times that it scared me, and I was only watching the race on TV from thousands of miles away.
Well deserved, well raced, and I wonder if he can do it again next year.
Maybe.
