Thirty minutes ago my instinct really screamed at me and, sure enough, things really were not right as the scorpion shown above was heading extremely rapidly towards my left foot – which was at the time completely unprotected against attack.

Seriously dangerous? I have no idea, but it is quite clearly a scorpion and that was enough for me to decide to apply a little ‘maximum prejudice’ to it.

Last year, tomatoes, peppers, chillis, aubergines and a host of other things.

This year, flowers. Lots of them.

On the reverse of each of those packets in the photo there are instructions and supposed requirements for the depth the seeds should be planted at, the spaces between each and so on. (Click image for bigger).

Seed Planting Instructions

Obviously, I have taken no notice whatsoever of those and simply put all of the seeds from all of the different packets together in one packet, then shaken it to mix them all together, and then sprinkled the resulting mixture into a big bunch of empty pots.

I figure that is how nature does it, and if it is good enough for nature – it’s good enough for me.

Will it work? I’ll have to wait and see.

Note: the above isn’t really guerilla gardening as you can’t really guerilla garden your own patio; this is real guerilla gardening.

Hard to believe, really.

No great plans for today, but if you are interested (that means you know me personally or are related to me most likely), I’m kind of keeping up with things now and then during the day over here on this micro-rogi day page.

But first, the important stuff; now that I suddenly have one of these, I need to go and read this.

I have just put some new images up into my Lifeblog Images Section. Not usually of much general interest other than to me and to those following my Lifeblog Project, this time they might also be of some interest to those of you who were curious as to the true quality of the much-talked-about camera in the Nokia N95. Hyped, or not? See for yourself.

Here are the images;

First test shot, straight out of the box.
My Labrador/Ridgeback puppy, Juno.

The result of the first rain shower this Autumn here in the Algarve yesterday.
A really interesting and exciting photo of my boots.
An image made this afternoon of a bud on a plant in my courtyard that I have forgotten the name of.
And, finally, my lunch today of scrambled eggs and Tabasco.

For those of you who are indeed more interested in the technical photographic side of things than my lunch; all images were shot with the phone set to the full 5mp resolution. All on auto exposure, auto focus (wait for it to beep and confirm that it has actually found and locked focus – hold the shutter release half way down, then wait for the beep and the screen target bars to turn green before pressing the button all the way – or it will bite you and go ahead without focus), and auto everything else that could be switched onto auto, basically. The only slight exception was the image of the bud on the plant, which was shot using ‘close up’ mode, although other than the mode everything else on that shot was set to auto, too.

None of those images are now as they originally were straight off the phone. All have had some degree of lightness, contrast, colour and sharpness adjustments made afterwards. The negative side to that is that you need to do post-capture image manipulation at all, but such is life with digital. The positive aspects are that surprisingly little adjustment is required with the N95 imaging, and that the phone’s images do have plenty of information captured within them to adjust with.

Overall, considering that this is a phone that we are talking about here, I’m more than happy with the level of quality that it can generally achieve with reasonable lighting. I wouldn’t want to throw away my Nikons and try to make my living with it, but then that is not what it was designed for anyway.

Creating photo albums within Dropbox is quick and simple.

1. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it whatever you want to call your photo album.
2. Drop the photos that you want to appear in your album into the new folder.
3. Click on your Dropbox icon (this will be either on your menu bar if you are on a Mac, or in your system tray if you are using Windows).
4. Click on ‘Open my Dropbox’.

5. Once your Dropbox folder opens, drag the new album folder that you have just created from your desktop and drop it onto the ‘Photos’ folder within your Dropbox.
6. At this point the green check mark on your ‘Photos’ folder will turn blue as your album is uploaded to the Dropbox servers. Wait until this finishes and the icon on the folder returns to being a green tick (check mark).
7. Click on your Dropbox icon once again and then click on ‘Web Interface’. Your browser will open your web based Dropbox page.
8. Click on ‘Photos’. You will see your new album listed.

9. Click on your album.
10. That’s it. Done.

If you wish to share your new album publicly, or with friends or clients, simply copy the URL that is given to you at the top of the first page of your album.
